Natural foods suitable for your dog

Our puppies, like any living being, can benefit from the nutrients of fresh food.

In this blog we will present a list of the most beneficial foods that they like the most.

Dogs, like any other living being, can benefit from the nutrients in fresh food.

In today’s blog, we are going to present a list of the foods that can be most beneficial to them and that are 100% natural.

We must start from one fact, and that is that dogs are facultative carnivores, so meat will always be the basis of their diet. Likewise, a dog’s organism can also digest other types of food, such as fruit or vegetables.

Meats

We can give goat, turkey, rabbit, lamb, pork or beef. By offering meat we are providing minerals, essential amino acids and protein of high biological value. It must be taken into account that proteins are not cumulative, and therefore should be ingested daily.

Viscera

Viscera have a very high nutritional value, and it is essential that dogs eat them, due to the high concentration of vitamins and minerals. Some examples of viscera that can be eaten are liver, kidney, pancreas, spleen, brain, thymus, among others.

Fish

Fish also provides great benefits, such as low saturated fat content. It has a high content of essential fatty acids such as Omega 3, which makes this food has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

It is important that the fish we give it is fresh. The most recommended are hake, herring, salmon or sardines.

Fleshy bones

Another essential food for dogs is meaty bones. Meaty bones are covered with meat, normally they usually have proportionally 67% of bone against 33% of meat. It is advisable to give them raw, previously frozen. Dogs have a different stomach PH than ours, much more acidic, so they can digest them without any inconvenience.

This food is rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, fatty acids and essential amino acids, in addition to providing calcium and phosphorus, which are essential for dogs.

Eggs

Another food of animal origin that can be consumed are eggs. They have a high concentration of vitamins A, B12 and D. They are also rich in Omega3 fatty acids, so they will have a much shinier and healthier coat. Eggshells can also be consumed as a source of natural calcium.

Vegetables

This type of food will help to regulate the intestinal transit, since they have a great contribution of fiber and help our furry ones to eliminate toxins.

Some examples of vegetables that we can offer are broccoli, tubers (carrot, sweet potato), zucchini, spinach, pumpkin, among others. In addition to fiber, they provide vitamins A, B, C and minerals.

There are other vegetables that are best avoided, such as raw eggplants, onions, chives, green tomatoes or garlic in large quantities.

Fruits

Fruit is moisturizing, nutritious and highly digestible. In proportion to the other foods, this is the one we should offer in smaller quantity, never exceeding 5% of the total intake of our dog’s diet.

Apart from fiber, vitamins and minerals, fruits are characterized by their antioxidant power. Within the great variety of fruits that we can give, we have to be especially careful with grapes, which are toxic for dogs. The rest of the fruit, generally, can be given without any problem.

Taking into account that these are the most beneficial foods for dogs, we can be creative in their presentation, elaborating creams, ice creams in summer, treats with viscera and other options that will allow us to vary the routine of our dog, always in a healthy way.
